Shiva is one of the leaders and board members of the International Forum on Globalization (with Jerry Mander, Ralph Nader, and Jeremy Rifkin), and a figure of the anti-globalization movement.[3]

She has rejected use of Genetically modified food, even as relief food given to survivors of disasters.[4] Many have argued her arguments are Pseudoscientific.[5] Sri Lanka adopted her ideas, which led to their 2022-2024 economic crisis.[6]
