Alban Berg's Violin Concerto

· diatonicism and dodecaphony.
· commissioned by Louis Krasner, and dedicated by Berg to "the memory of an angel", Manon Gropius.
· Berg described the structure of the concerto in a letter to Arnold Schoenberg. [3] It is in two movements, each divided into two sections:
i. a. Andante (Prelude) b. Allegretto (Scherzo) ii. a. Allegro (Cadenza) b. Adagio (Chorale Variations)

· Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night), Op. 4, à string sextet composed by Arnold Schoenberg in 1899.
· Composed in just three weeks,
· The movement can be divided into five distinct sections which refer to the five stanzas of Dehmel's poem; however, there are no unified criteria regarding movement separation.
