William Patrick "W. P." Kinsella (May 25, 1935 – September 16, 2016) was a Canadian novelist and short story writer. He was known for his novel Shoeless Joe (1982), which was made into the movie Field of Dreams in 1989.

Kinsella died by euthanasia in Hope, British Columbia on September 16, 2016 at the age of 81.^[1]
