West Philippine Sea
West Philippine Sea[3] (shortened as WPS) is the official name by the government of the Philippines to a 200-nautical-mile area of water that stretches from the country's shores, which is called the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of the Philippines. This area is based on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS)[4] which gives the country sovereignty of its maritime area[5] including rights to its own natural resources.[6]
