Winnipeg Labour Party

The Winnipeg Labour Party was a political party in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The party was founded in 1896. It was based on an earlier organization in Winnipeg called the Independent Labour Party.[1]

Many socialists and conservatives supported this party at first. The party elected Arthur Puttee to the House of Commons of Canada in the 1900 federal election.[1] The Winnipeg Labour Party did not support the violence in the labour movement, however. Because of this, they lost support from many socialists.

In 1906, the Winnipeg Labour Party became part of the Independent Labour Party.
