It went to number 8 in the United Kingdom, number 15 in the United States, number 9 in New Zealand, number 1 in Switzerland, the Netherlands and Canada and number 13 in Australia. The song was covered by many artists including Rita Coolidge in 1978 and Boyzone in 1996 where it went to number 1 in the United Kingdom, Scotland, Ireland and Lithunia.
