Altamura is an Italian city in the Apulia Region. The city is 45 kilometres (28 miles) southwest of Bari. It is close to the border with Basilicata. As of 2017[update], Altamura has about 70,500 inhabitants.
The city is known for its traditional bread called Pane di Altamura.
