The 2016 Stanley Cup playoffs began on April 13, 2016 and ended June 12. The Calgary Flames won their second Stanley Cup. None of the seven Canadian-based teams (except for the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs) qualified for the playoffs. The only other time in league history with no Canadian teams in the playoffs was in 1970.[1][2]
