History

On 11 December 2023, Colombia, through its Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development Susana Muhamad, officially offered to host the event from 21 October to 1 November 2024.[3]

In February 2024, Cali said it will hold the biodiversity conference.[4][5]

The UNCBD notified Parties on 31 July 2023 Turkeys’ decision to withdraw from hosting and presiding over the sixteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity because of the three destructive earthquakes that occurred in February 2023.[6]
