A Summer Place is a 1959 romantic drama movie. It is based on the novel of the same name by Sloan Wilson. It was directed by Delmer Daves. It stars Richard Egan, Dorothy McGuire, Troy Donahue, Sandra Dee, Arthur Kennedy, and Constance Ford. The movie's instrumental theme, composed by Max Steiner, became a hit.

Story

Ken (Egan) and Sylvia (McGuire), who were once teen lovers, run into each other by chance at a resort in Maine. Ken's wife is cold, and Sylvia's husband drinks too much. Ken and Sylvia renew their past romance. At the resort, Sylvia's son Johnny (Donahue) and Ken's daughter Molly (Dee) also fall in love. Ken and Sylvia decide to leave their spouses and get married. When Molly becomes pregnant, Johnny and Molly ask their parents for permission.
