Anne Cox Chambers
Anne Cox Chambers (December 1, 1919 – January 31, 2020) was an American media owner. She held the largest share of Cox Enterprises.[1] The company is a mass media group that includes newspaper, television, radio and cable television.[1] It is the third largest cable company in the United States.[2]
In 1973 Chambers became the first woman bank director in Atlanta.[3] From 1977 to 1981 she was the United States Ambassador to Belgium under President Jimmy Carter.[3] From 1981 to 1991 Chambers was the director of The Coca-Cola Company.[3]
She was the daughter of James M. Cox. He was a newspaper publisher and 1920 Democratic Presidential nominee.[2] Her overall net worth was estimated by Forbes magazine at $12.4 million.[4] This is based mostly on her equity in Cox Enterprises.[4] Cox Chambers was born in Dayton, Ohio.
From 1977 through 1981, she was Ambassador to Belgium during the Jimmy Carter presidency.
Chambers died on January 31, 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 100.[5]
