Anticonvulsant
An anticonvulsant is a drug that is made to treat seizures, commonly associated with epilepsy. They are also known as antiepileptic drugs or anti-seizure drugs. Many of these drugs act as a mood stabilizer[verification needed].
Their mood stabilizing effect means they are also made to treat mood disorders off-label, to treat diagnosed bipolar disorder[verification needed].
