History
When the Eure-et-Loir department was created on 1800, the arrondissement of Dreux was part of that original department.[1]
Geography
The arrondissement of Dreux is the most southern of the arrondissements of the Eure-et-Loir department. It has an area of 1,500.5 km2 (579.3 sq mi) and a population of 129,431 inhabitants.
It is bordered to the north by the Eure department, to the east by the Yvelines department, to the south by the arrondissement of Chartres, to the southwest by the arrondissement of Nogent-le-Rotrou and to the west by the Orne department.
