History

At the 2015 arrondissements reform, the arrondissement of Molsheim was expanded with several communes from the arrondissements of Strasbourg-Campagne and Saverne.[1]

Geography

The arrondissement of Molsheim is in the west of the Bas-Rhin department. It is bordered to the north by the Saverne arrondissement, to the east by the Strasbourg arrondissement, to the southeast by the Sélestat-Erstein arrondissement, to the southwest by the Vosges department, to the west by the Meurthe-et-Moselle department and to the northwest by the Moselle department.

The arrondissement of Molsheim has an area of 771.2 km2 (297.8 sq mi) and a population of 103,068 inhabitants for a population density of 133.6 inhabitants/km².[2]
