At the Gates is a melodic death metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden. They are one of the first melodic death metal bands. They helped make the genre with bands such as In Flames and Dark Tranquility.^[1] At the Gates made four albums before they stopped making music in 1996. They started making music again in 2007.
