Average
An average is the "normal" number of a group of numbers made by mixing the group of numbers.
In math, an average is called a mean. It can be found by adding the numbers, then dividing the answer by the amount of numbers there were. There are different kinds of mean, and other things that are sometimes thought of as "average" such as median or mode (statistics).
Sport
In some sports, such as cricket and baseball, averages are used to tell how good a player is (such as batting average). Sporting averages have special rules for how to find them.
Average Media
Representation of the arithmetic mean, median and mode of a set of 250 points. The black curve represents the theoretical distribution used to generate the points, with the gray histogram depicting the actual distribution.
Four means of two numbers, a and b, constructed as chords on a semicircle. The arithmetic, geometric and harmonic means are sometimes referred to as the "Pythagorean means".
