Bates College is an American liberal arts college in Lewiston, Maine, in the United States.[3] Bates College was founded in 1855. 1,800 students attend Bates. Economics, English, Psychology, Biology, and History are popular majors at Bates College.

The college's oldest academic building, Hathorn Hall was built in 1856 by Boston architect Gridley J. F. Bryant.
