Battle of Mount Piers

The Battle of Mount Piers, was an armed engagement, between the Peshmerga, led by Mustafa Barzani, and the Iraqi army. The heavily armed Iraqi army, with 10,000 soldiers, 2 batallions of artillery, and 4 classes of aircraft, launched an assault on Mount Piers. The light armed Peshmerge, managed to repel the assault and defeat the Iraqi army. Capturing a colonel of the Iraqi army and inflicting significant casualties on Iraqi lines.[1]
