Ben Roberts-Smith
Benjamin Roberts-Smith is a retired Australian soldier who won a medal called the Victoria Cross for Australia in 2011, which is the highest award that any Australian military soldier can receive. He has been described as Australia's most decorated soldier.
Defamation
Several Australian newspapers, including The Age, the Sydney Morning Herald and The Canberra Times, claimed that Roberts-Smith had committed different war crimes. In August 2018 Roberts-Smith sued these newspapers for defamation, saying that he didn't commit the war crimes. In June 2023, Roberts-Smith lost his law suit, as he was unable to prove that defamation had occurred.
