Brentor

Church of St Michel de Rupe

Brentor is a small village about 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Tavistock within West Devon.[1] The village is famous for it's church, "Church of St Michel de Rupe" (Saint Michael of the Rock). The church which dates back to the 13th century sits high upon a tor overlooking the village. It can be seen from miles around and is visited by many people each year. The rock it sits on is what is left of a volcano and is 1,130 feet (340 m) high.[2] It was once used as a beacon tower to warn people of approaching enemy ships.[3]
