Brian D. Burns (born November 17, 1939) is an American politician. He is a Democrat from the state of Vermont. He served as the 72nd Lieutenant Governor of Vermont from 1975 to 1977. He was also a member of the Vermont House of Representatives from 1967 to 1975.

Burns was born in Burlington, Vermont. In 1985, he made an unsuccessful bid to be mayor of Burlington. He lost in a three way race to incumbent Bernie Sanders.[1]

In 1995, Burns was convicted of three counts of fraud. He was sentenced to six months in jail and four months of home detention.
