French National Centre for Scientific Research

The French National Centre for Scientific Research (French: Centre national de la recherche scientifique, fr, CNRS) is a top public research organization in Europe and one of the most respected in the world.[2] The CNRS is the biggest organization in Europe that does basic science research.[3]

In 2016, the CNRS had 31,637 workers. This included 11,137 full-time researchers, 13,415 engineers and technical staff, and 7,085 contract workers.[4] Its main office is in Paris, and it also has offices in cities like Brussels, Beijing, Tokyo, Singapore, Washington, D.C., Bonn, Moscow, Tunis, Johannesburg, Santiago de Chile, cities in Israel, and New Delhi.[5]
