The COVID-19 pandemic was first recorded to have arrived in Syria on 14 March 2020.[1] The first case was confirmed on 22 March.[2]

Cases

The first case of COVID-19 in Syria possibly came from Pakistan where 8 individuals with a travel history including Syria were confirmed to have the virus.[3]

Weakness

Syria is considered very weak to the epidemic due to the ongoing civil war and horrible humanitarian situation.[4][5]

According to the Syrian Ministry of Health, there are 5 labs that are able to test for the coronavirus located in 4 governorates.[6]

According to the Syrian Ministry of Health, There are 32 quarantine centers for suspected COVID-19 cases located in 13 governorates (All governorates Except Idlib).[6]

According to the Syrian Ministry of Health, there are 13 Treatment centers dedicated for COVID-19 patients located in 11 governorates.[6]
