Concussions stopped him from playing longer. After he had five concussions in 14 months, he left the NFL in 1995.[1] He returned to the NFL in 1999 but a concussion while playing with the Denver Broncos in that year made him decide to retire for good.[2] He was made a member of the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 2005.
He was the quarterbacks coach for the Arizona Cardinals.
