George Clifton James (May 29, 1920 – April 15, 2017) was a retired American actor. He is best known for his role as Sheriff J.W. Pepper in the James Bond movies such as Live and Let Die (1973) and in The Man With The Golden Gun (1974).

James was born on May 29, 1920 in Spokane, Washington.[1] He married Laurie Harper in 1951. Harper died in 2015. They had six children.

James died from complications of diabetes at his home in Gladstone, Oregon on April 15, 2017, age 96.[2]
