Constance Baker Motley

Constance Baker Motley (September 14, 1921 – September 28, 2005) was a civil rights activist. She was also the first African-American woman to be appointed to the Federal judiciary of the United States, where she served as United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
