David Kämpf

David Kämpf (born 12 January 1995) is a Czech professional ice hockey forward. He currently plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has also played for the Chicago Blackhawks and Piráti Chomutov of the Czech Extraliga (ELH).

Playing career 2012–present

Career

Before playing in the NHL, Kämpf played parts of 4 seasons with the Piráti Chomutov of the Czech Extraliga (ELH).

He was not drafted by NHL team. On 1 May 2017, Kämpf decided to opt out of his contract with Piráti Chomutov and signed a two-year, entry-level contract to join the Chicago Blackhawks.[1] On 28 December, Kämpf made his NHL debut in a 5-2 loss against the Vancouver Canucks.[2] On 3 January 2018, he recorded his first NHL point, assisting on a Patrick Sharp goal in a 5-2 win against the New York Rangers.[3] On 12 January 2019, Kämpf scored his first NHL goal in a 2–1 win against the Winnipeg Jets.[4]

On 28 July 2021, Kämpf signed a two-year, $3 million contract to join the Toronto Maple Leafs.[5]

On 28 June 2023, the Maple Leafs signed Kämpf to a four-year, $9.6 million extension to stay with the team.[6]
