David McCullough
David Gaub McCullough (July 7, 1933 – August 7, 2022) was an American author, narrator, historian, and lecturer. He was a two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award and a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States' highest civilian award.[1][2]
McCullough was born on July 7, 1933 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was of Scottish-Irish descent. He studied at Shady Side Academy and at Yale University. In 1954, McCullough married Rosalee Ingram Barnes. They had five children. Barnes died in June 2022.[3]
McCullough taught a writing course at Wesleyan University and was a visiting scholar at Cornell University and Dartmouth College.[4]
McCullough died at his home in Hingham, Massachusetts on August 7, 2022 at the age of 89.[5]
