Des Moines metropolitan area

The Des Moines metropolitan area, or the Des Moines—West Des Moines Regional Area, is the largest area overall in the U.S. state of Iowa. The main city of the Metro region is Des Moines.

Six counties in Central Iowa make up the region. The counties are Polk, Dallas, Madison, Warren, Guthrie and Jasper.

Cities in the metro area include Urbandale, Ankeny and Pleasant Hill.
