Don J. Briel

Donald Jonathan Briel (January 28, 1947 – February 15, 2018) was an American theologian. He was born in Ventura, California.

Briel held the Blessed John Henry Newman Chair of Liberal Arts at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota from August 2014 until his death in 2018.[1]

Briel was the founder of the Center for Catholic Studies at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He held the Koch Chair of Catholic Studies and served as Director from 1993 to 2014.

Briel died of leukemia in Minneapolis, Minnesota on February 15, 2018 at the age of 71.[2]
