Earl Blumenauer

Earl Blumenauer (/ˈblmən.ər/; born August 16, 1948) is an American politician. He is the U.S. Representative for Oregon's 3rd congressional district, since 1996. He is a member of the Democratic Party. The district includes most of Portland.[1]

In November 2020, Blumenauer was named a candidate for U.S. Secretary of Transportation in the incoming Biden Administration.[2] Pete Buttigieg was eventually chosen instead.[3]

On October 30, 2023, Blumenauer announced he would not run for re-election in 2024.[4]
