Edward Ludwig

Edward Irving Ludwig (October 7, 1899[1] – August 20, 1982) was a Russian-born American movie director and writer. He directed about 100 movies between 1921 and 1963. He sometimes used the names Edward I. Luddy and Charles Fuhr. His style was known for its use of montage.[2] A collection of his scripts is held at the American Film Institute Louis B. Mayer Library.[3]

Ludwig was born Isidor Litwack in Ukraine which was part of the Russian Empire at the time. He came to the United States from Canada on March 6, 1911. He became a naturalized citizen on December 23, 1932 He died in 1982 in Santa Monica, California, at age 82.
