Summary

Description
English: For decades, posters made an important propaganda contribution to the labor movement in Germany. They depicted central political themes and theses, often in allegorical form. In this poster, the unknown artist drew inspiration from the Old Testament destruction of the golden calf: When the Israelites succumbed to the temptation of the idol, Moses destroyed the golden calf. Such posters with parables primarily addressed their message to members of political parties, the emerging unions, and associations, and, like other devotional items, adorned meeting places and homes.
