Summary

Description

Following trials with the 2 and 4 car PEP units on the South Western division of the Southern Region, these 4-car sliding door units were delivered from 1979. Replacing the older 4SUB and EPB slam door stock, they didn't hang around for long. Being non-standard with other Southern stock within a few years they were transferred to Merseyside to work along side the class 507s.

Taken on 21 April 1984, unit 508.108 is seen at Hampton Court ready to work the 15:14 departure to London Waterloo.
