English: The economic and ecological bases of prosperity for everyone are in danger and the gap between rich and poor is widening. The Green Economy seems to offer a way out of the ecological and social crises. It promises the reconciliation between economy and ecology and feeds the hope to maintain our high-level prosperity. The Green Economy is hope and dispute at the same time. The search for economic and societal models that respect our planetary boundaries on the one hand and bring equity and a liveable future for all on the other must in any case reach far beyond the Green Economy’s present concepts.
Tim Jackson, author of Prosperity Without Growth, and Gerhard Schick, author of Machtwirtschaft – nein danke!, will discuss the following questions with the authors of Inside the Green Economy:
- Which economic system do we need in view of the planetary boundaries and why do the approaches of the Green Economy not suffice?
- What are the technological and market-driven solutions that the Green Economy offers to overcome the climate crisis and biodiversity loss and why are they problematic?
- Why is efficiency alone not enough for a social-ecological transformation?
- How can a re-politicization of the ecological debate succeed that takes questions of power and lobby interests into account?
