Summary
DescriptionWarwick Castle trebuchet - from the bank.webm
English: Demonstration of the Warwick Castle trebuchet during a historical reenactment, set in 1471 during the Wars of the Roses. A narrator explains historical circumstances, military tactics and technical specifications. This trebuchet has a counterweight and two treadwheels (occupied by four people in total) to pull back the counterweight, and is loaded with a burning projectile. Reloading and firing it takes 8 people about 30 minutes. (launch at 10:30 into the video).
Creator's commentary: "A video of the Warwick Castle Trebuchet in action - this is the afternoon (fireball) firing and filmed from the bank, so there's better audio quality, although much of the flight is out-of-frame (this camera was mounted on a tripod for stability and was zoomed in too far to be able to adequately track the flight). However, I have included still photographs of the flaming trough, fireball landing site and the trebuchet team."
