The Grand Duchy of Oldenburg was a state in Europe. It was in the area that today is Germany. It was created out of the smaller Duchy of Oldenburg. The state was created at the Congress of Vienna in 1814 but ceased to exist after the German Revolution in 1918. The capital of the state was Oldenburg. The Grand ducal family lived at the Schloss Oldenburg in the capital. They had Counts, dukes and grand dukes of Oldenburg
