Heiko Laessig
Heiko Laessig (born 18 June 1968) was a German former professional footballer. He played as a defender.[1]

Career
Laessig started his career in 1977 in the youth team of 1. FC Magdeburg. In the 1988/89 season he was for the first time in the GDR Oberliga team. He played his first match on 5 September 1987 versus Hallescher FC Chemie. By the end of the GDR Oberliga in 1991he had played 59 first division matches for Magdeburg and scored 17 goals. After Magdeburg could not qualify for professional football in 1991 he moved to Bayer Uerdingen in the 2nd Bundesliga.1992 the club was promoted and Laessig played in the Bundesliga. He played 145 league matches for Bayer and scored 32 goals. 1996 he went to Austria and played for SV Austria Salzburg. He started as a striker but developed into an excellent defender towards the end of his playing career. For Salzburg he played 268 matches and scored 43 goals. His greatest success was winning the Austrian championship in 1997. His career as a professional soccer player ended in spring 2005. Since that time he worked as scout for FC Red Bull Salzburg.[2]
