Herbert William Mullin[1] (April 18, 1947 – August 18, 2022) was an American serial killer. He killed 13 people in California in the early 1970s. He said he killed these people to stop earthquakes from happening.
In 1973, after a trial to see if he was insane or culpable, he was convicted of two first-degree murders and nine second-degree murders. He was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was denied parole eight times.[2][3]
Mullin died on August 18, 2022 at a medical prison in Stockton, California at the age of 75.[4]
