International Ski Federation
International Ski Federation (French: Fédération internationale de ski) (FIS) is the sport organization for skiing.
The organization started in Norway in 1910.[1] It was first named the International Ski Commission. It changed its name to the Fédération Internationale de Ski in February 1924.[2] When it changed its name, it became the world organization for skiing.[1]

The federation organises the following ski sport disciplines, for which it oversees World Cup competitions and World Championships:

Note: The discipline of Biathlon, which combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting, has its own organisation, the International Biathlon Union (IBU).

International Ski Federation Media
The Crystal Globe trophy awarded by the FIS to the winner of the Alpine Ski World Cup. Similar trophies are awarded in all FIS world cups.
