JDSU

JDS Uniphase Corporation (JDSU) was an Ottawa company that made fibre-optic network parts. Over 10,000 people worked for them in Ottawa and 30,000 world-wide.[1][2]

JDS Fitel was founded by Jozef Straus in 1981. Straus, an engineer, also worked at Bell-Northern Research.[3][4]

In August 2015, JDSU split into two different companies: Viavi Solutions and Lumentum Holdings.[5]
