Body

The body is 25–50 cm long. It weighs between 700 and 1500 grams. It has a brown skin.

Living areas

It lives in Japan in the forests on Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu islands.

Food

It eats fruits and seeds.

Reproduction

Its breeding time is from winter to early summer.

Threats

Cutting down trees and decrease its habitat.

Relationship with humans

The Japanese giant flying squirrel was hunted by human. Now, people keep them as pets.
