John Ferris (swimmer)
John Edward Ferris (July 24, 1949 – September 13, 2020) was an American competition swimmer and former world record-holder. He was born in Sacramento, California.
Ferris won two bronze medals at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. He received a gold medal in the 200-meter butterfly at the 1967 World University Games, where he set a new world-record time of 2:06.0.
Ferris died in Walnut Creek, California on September 13, 2020 from lung cancer, aged 71.[1]
