John Singer Sargent
John Singer Sargent (January 12, 1856 – April 14, 1925) was an American painter. He is best known for his lush portraits of 19th century high society people. He was born in Florence, Italy, and died in London. He never married. His best known work is probably Portrait of Madame X.
