Julie Fisher

Julie D. Fisher is an American diplomat. In December 2020, the U.S. Senate unanimously approved her designation as ambassador to Belarus. She will be the first American ambassador to that country since 2008, when the United States withdrew its ambassador as part of political tensions between the two countries.[1] Previously, Ms. Fisher had been the U.S. chargé d'affaires and acting ambassador to Russia.[2] She served as Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs from September 1, 2018 until July 22, 2020 after being the Deputy Permanent Representative of the U.S. Mission to NATO.[3]

Education

As an undergraduate, Ms. Fisher majored in Russian and East European Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has a Master’s degree from the Woodrow Wilson School for International Affairs at Princeton University.[3]
