June Rowlands
June Rowlands (May 14, 1924 – December 21, 2017) was a Canadian politician. She was born in Toronto. She was the 60th mayor of Toronto, Ontario,[1] serving from 1991 through 1994. She was the first woman to hold that office. She served a longtime city councillor, unsuccessful federal candidate, and chair of the Metropolitan Toronto Police Commission.

Rowlands was known during her mayoral term clashing with youth riots and was criticized for her actions which related to political correctness. After one term in office, Rowlands was defeated in 1994 by Barbara Hall, and retired from politics.
Rowlands died on December 21, 2017 in Toronto of Parkinson disease-related complications at the age of 93.[2]
