Kanose, Niigata

In 2003, 2,753 people lived in the town. The total area was 257.69 km². The population density was 10.68 persons per km². In April 2005, Kanose joined three neighboring villages and the four villages became the town of Aga. In 1964, a chemical factory in the village released methyl mercury into the Agano River and caused the Niigata Minamata disease.
