Kenneth A. Gibson
Kenneth Allen Gibson (May 15, 1932 – March 29, 2019) was an American Democratic Party politician. He was elected in 1970 as the 34th Mayor of Newark, New Jersey. He was the first African American elected mayor of any major Northeastern United States city. He served from 1970 to 1986.[1]
