Klamath County, Oregon
Klamath County (/ˈklæməθ/ KLAM-əth) is a county which is in the U.S. state of Oregon. The county was named after the Klamath. The Klamath were the tribe of Native Americans living in the area when the first European explorers found the region. As of 2020[update], 69,413 people live there.[1] The county seat is at Klamath Falls.
Geography
The U.S. Census Bureau says that the county has an area of 6,136 square miles (15,892.2 km2). 5,944 square miles (15,394.9 km2) is land and 192 square miles (497.3 km2) (3.12%) is water.
Government
Politics
Klamath County is represented in the Oregon House of Representatives by two Republicans. These people are Bill Garrard and Mike McLane. Klamath County is represented in the Oregon State Senate by Republican Doug Whitsett. Greg Walden, also a Republican, is Klamath County's representative in the United States House. The county has voted for Republican politicians for many years. The last time a Democratic candidate for US president represented Klamath County was in 1964.
