Kouba (ancient tribe)
The Kouba (ꯀꯧꯕꯥ) or Koubarel (ꯀꯧꯕꯥꯔꯦꯜ) was an ancient sub-tribe of the Moirang clan of Ancient Kangleipak (early Manipur). They are believed to be Tibeto-Burman in origin and initially settled close to the inclines of Mount Koubru. In the 4th century CE, they migrated south through the Kangchup hills and settled near present-day Ngangkharawai. Finally, the Kouba became part of the Moirang Anouba (New Moirang) group after blending with the Kege.
